Named after Rev. Hallgrimur Petursson, a famous Icelandic poet, the church can house 1200. Built by a father and son, construction began in 1945, completed in 1986.
Visitors can take an elevator up 6 storeys to the clock tower (and look out through the clockâs faces) and climb one more flight of stairs to view the city from the arched windows near the top of the tower.
